Delta Air Logistics launches online cargo booking

October 16, 2002 12:00 PM ET

Computerworld - Delta Air Logistics, the cargo division of Delta Air Lines Inc., this week launched Web site that allows customers to book domestic freight online.
Deltacargo.com will offer customers an additional way to interact with Delta Air Logistics, said Tony Charaf, senior vice president for the Atlanta-based company, in a statement.
Customers who book cargo via Deltacargo.com will be able view the available flights based on the weight and volume of their shipments, the company said. They will also be able to track shipments from drop-off to pickup on a single air waybill. Customers can track their shipments over a 30-day period by origin, destination, date range or any combination of the three.
The service is available around the clock, according to the company.
"With this new tool handling more of our routine transactions, our customer service call center is better positioned to handle those customer calls that are more complex in nature," said Gary Swanson, managing director of sales and marketing at Delta Air Logistics.
To use the new Web-based booking tool, customers will have to register with Delta Air Logistics and must also be verified known shippers according to the guidelines of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration.
