CA automates backup and recovery
Network World -
Computer Associates International Inc. enhanced the automation capabilities of its backup and recovery software this week to make it easier for IT managers to maintain business continuity.
The company also debuted an easier-to-use interface to Version 9 of its BrightStor ARCserve Backup software for Intel-based servers.
BrightStor ARCserve Backup includes a new scheduling feature that lets IT managers automate a number of routine and tedious tasks, such as drive cleaning or database maintenance. Currently, they are able to schedule only routine backups.
CA claims that the new user interface is easier for novice administrators to use. The company also redesigned the installation and registration procedures.
BrightStor ARCserve Backup works on NetWare, Windows and Linux. Users with BrightStor ARCserve 2000 for Windows, BrightStor ARCserve Backup 7 for NetWare or BrightStor ARCserve Backup 7 for Linux can upgrade to Version 9 at no charge.
Since CA just entered the beta program for this product, pricing and shipping dates aren't available.
