Computerworld - Application manager Michael Yee says there's not any single factor that has kept him at Securian Financial Group for 21 years. Rather, he says, there's the St. Paul, Minn., company's commitment to a range of fundamentals that, taken all together, create a great IT shop.
"It's just a nice place to work, nice people. It feels like family," Yee says.
He points to the financial services firm's commitment to developing its own staff. Yee started out as a programmer and in that role was able to move through a half-dozen different positions.
Similarly, systems engineer Jeff Deaver says he likes the fact that the company is willing to be on the forefront of technology, which keeps him and other IT workers challenged.
"There is rarely a day where I'm just sitting at my desk, and it's probably true for the majority of people," Deaver says.
