Hitachi Data Systems gets a new CEO
IDG News Service - Hitachi Ltd. storage subsidiary Hitachi Data Systems Corp. (HDS) said today that it has tapped Dave Roberson as president and chief executive officer.
Roberson, currently president and chief operating officer of HDS, will replace Shinjiro Iwata, CEO since 2001. Iwata will assume the role of chief marketing officer for Hitachi Ltd.'s Information and Telecommunications Systems Group.
Replacing Roberson as COO is Minoru Kosuge, currently executive vice president and chief storage architect at Hitachi.
Roberson has served in a variety of executive roles during his 25-year stint at Hitachi. He has also served as a board member for numerous IT companies, including RagingWire Enterprise Solutions Inc. and Integrated Device Technology Inc.
The changes are effective April 1.
HDS, based in Santa Clara, Calif., competes with EMC Corp. and IBM in the high-end RAID storage market.
