Cassatt unveils Java server virtualization software
IDG News Service - Three-year-old start-up Cassatt Corp. in San Jose, is extending its server virtualization software to Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) applications, the company said Monday.
Instead of dedicating applications to a particular machine or cluster, Cassatt's Collage software creates a virtual pool of application resources and automatically matches up applications to resources as needed, based on service level agreements.
The company's new Collage Web Automation Module (WAM), which runs on top of the Collage platform, provides management and control capabilities specifically for applications built using BEA WebLogic Server 8.1. The company plans to also support other Java application servers in the future.
Pricing for Collage starts at $100,000 for a 40-node environment, and the new WAM module adds an additional $5,000 per node. WAM is available now for the Linux and Solaris operating systems.
Cassatt, which was founded in 2003 by former BEA Systems Inc. chief Bill Coleman, has about 100 employees.
