Microsoft refined Windows Sidebar for Vista Beta 2, making it possible to house Gadgets both in the Sidebar and on the desktop. The user interface for Sidebar is the best of any of its competitors, including Apple's Dashboard Widgets. The only problem is that there are hardly any Gadgets that work with it.
