China will still require Green Dam Web filter program
China has not lifted its requirement that an Internet filtering program be shipped with all computers sold in the country, even though the plan was postponed this week, state media said Thursday.

Solving the compliance vs. mobile dilemma
Compliance with federal regulations requires extreme care. On the other hand, users are walking out of your office carrying high-risk data on mobile devices. What's an IT manager to do?
All about laptops
What with all the hubbub about the iPhone 3GS and just as much hub (though a little less bub) regarding Snow Leopard, it's easy to forget that Apple opened the WWDC keynote with talk of an updated laptop line. If Apple's willing to devote that kind of keynote real estate to the subject, the least we can do is spend a podcast talking about it.
A Netbook Worth Buying: Samsung's N120
It's been nearly two years since the first netbook, the Asus Eee PC 4G, became available to U.S. consumers. Even so, I just bought my first netbook, the Samsung N120. Why did I wait so long? (Several reasons.) And was it worth the wait? (Absolutely.)
Choosing Between Netbooks and Notebooks
What goes up must come down, and lately what's coming down are netbooks, as more and more articles talk about the compact computers disappointing customers. However, we can't blame netbooks for that. We can only blame vendors who overhype and customers who underbuy. Before you buy a smaller, cheaper and less powerful netbook, determine if you need a notebook instead. If so, you can spend about the same money and get more power, albeit in a larger package.
Are sealed-in laptop batteries a good idea?
A look at the pros and cons of nonremovable laptop batteries.
Review: Intel's X25-E SSD runs circles around rival drives
The Intel X25-E is considered one of the most advanced solid-state disk (SSD) drives on the market. It boasts impressive I/O performance, solid reliability and longevity -- and you might be surprised by just how well it did in our tests.
Acer Aspire Timeline 3810T Laptop
The Acer Aspire 3810T, aka the Acer Timeline, has two things going for it: This model is one of the first laptops out the gate to use an Intel CULV processor (in this case, the 1.4GHz U9400). The 3810T also has a sharp style that's sure to grab attention. How does this laptop stand up to the MSI X340 or to the HP Pavilion dv2 (which uses the first-gen Athlon Neo CPU)? Pretty well.
MacBook Air (Mid 2009)
The MacBook Air is a product that lives on the margins. It's the slowest laptop--indeed, the slowest computer--in the Mac line. It omits many features that are standard on other Mac laptops, including multiple USB ports, FireWire ports, Ethernet port, and optical drive. And the latest top-of-the-line MacBook Air is actually slower than its predecessor in many of our tests. In short, the MacBook Air is an odd duck.
Lenovo ThinkPad T400s All-Purpose Laptop
The Lenovo ThinkPad T400s (the "s" could stand for "small," or maybe even "surprising") is an evolutionary step up from the ThinkPad T400, which is itself a good all-purpose business laptop. In fact, the T400s looks as if it were a T400 that someone had left in the dryer for too long. So how did Lenovo improve on a laptop that already offered a great balance of features? For starters, it slimmed down the profile (big time), beefed up the ports, and integrated GOBI (for Wireless WAN access).
MacBook Pros (13-inch, Mid 2009)
When we reviewed the aluminum MacBook back in October 2008, those MacBooks posted performance scores that were very similar to the 15-inch MacBook Pro that was also released in October 2008. At that time, the differences between the MacBook and MacBook Pro boiled down to features. Now, with the new MacBook Pro lineup, the features on Apple's latest 13-inch aluminum laptops have been brought up to equal those found on the new 15-inch MacBook Pros.
