Just back from this year's RAPID 3D printing conference in Florida, Senior Writer Lucas Mearian returns with tales of -- yes it's a new one to us, too -- 4D printing. Not only is it a still evolving direction for 3D printing , but it could also one day save your life. (Bet you're more interested now....)
Mearian and Executive News Editor Ken Mingis explore how 4D printing and healthcare are tied together and then showcase the MOD-t 3D printer from New Matter (which Mearian is planning to review). Early word? Works well for a $399 printer, but it's slower than some others he's used.
Next up is the Mystery Gadget Guy (also known as Multimedia Editor Keith Shaw) and the unnamed, unknown device he has in hand. It's bigger than a breadbasket and all black, but smaller than the the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Shaw reveals all -- eventually.
