Unclear on the concept

This newly hired system administrator appears to have the right credentials. But he might be just a little short on real-world experience, says a pilot fish in the know.

"He seemed to be OK," fish says. "And after a few weeks on the job, he was put on the on-call rotation.

"The day after his first on-call shift, he sent out an email: Alerts shouldn't be sent to the pager. Network monitor alerts should be sent to the NOC, and NOC should fix the server issue, instead of us.

"It seems he was paged several time during the wee hours of the morning..."
