This company decides to farm out some of its computer support to a third-party vendor, reports a pilot on the help desk.
"The third-party support shift wasn't announced to users," fish says. "But to differentiate the affected computers, a sticker with a green leaf was placed on the monitor of the system.
"At the help desk, we were supposed to check to see if the monitor had this sticker. I was working with a user in one of the areas that should have had the sticker. I explained what the sticker would look like.
"The user replied, 'Oh, we thought those were Earth Day stickers -- so we took them off.'"
