This pilot fish works in an IT department at a big university -- one big enough to have multiple IT departments.
"We have two people who answer phones and direct the problems to the correct support personnel," says fish. "The other day, I walked into the cubicle of one of the women that answer the help desk phones.
"She was all happy and excited to let me know that she was using her desktop computer to remotely manage a laptop on our network. She proudly announced that she was adding a local administrator account on the laptop.
"When I looked down and saw the laptop sitting on her desk, I asked her, 'Why didn't you just log into the laptop and do it, since it's sitting on your desk?'
"She looked back at me like I had two heads."
