Pilot fish gets a call from a friend who needs help because her computer will only work at night.

"As I questioned her analysis as too bizarre and likely coincidental, she was insistent. 'No,' she said, 'it really only works at night. During the day it won't even turn on.'

"An on-site investigation found that the dear soul had plugged her power strip into a switched outlet. When she flipped the wall switch to turn on her table lamp, the same outlet supplied electrical power to her power strip. Voila! The computer could be turned on.

"But only at night..."
