In IT Blogwatch, bloggers tell us what they know (which is pretty much everything).

Your humble blogwatcher curated these bloggy bits for your entertainment.

Kellex Barr is the bringer of glad tidings of great joy to you and all fandroids:

The new Nexus 7 is now live through BestBuy.com for pre-order, meaning we are almost 100% guaranteed to see it unveiled [Wednesday by] Sundar Pichai. ...we’re looking at $229 and $269 prices for the 16GB and 32GB variants.

...

Update: It’s at Sam’s Club too.  MORE

Ryan Whitwam knows all the feeds 'n' speeds:

As expected, the new Nexus 7 has a 1920x1200 screen [which] works out to 320 PPI. Inside is a Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core clocked at 1.5GHz. ...that's exactly what the Nexus 4 runs. [It also] has 2GB of RAM. ... The new Nexus 7 runs Android 4.3 out of the box.

...

AnTuTu is a full system benchmark. ... The Nexus 4 [scores] 18,000...the new Nexus 7 fall[s] right about where you'd expect at about 19,000-20,000. ... Quadrant is similar to AnTuTu. ... It's a bit more outdated...but the numbers still provide some interesting comparisons.

...this is going to be kind of like a bigger Nexus 4. ... It has similar internals to the Nexus 4. ... The screen is much higher resolution, though. ... 2GB is nothing to sneeze at. The updated Nexus 7 performed on par with, or slightly faster than the Nexus 4.  MORE

Mario Gjyli analyzes the benchmarks and concludes thuswise:

So its safe to say 4.3 brings some performance enhancements. ...no way a device with a 1080p display using the same SoC as that on the 720p nexus 4 could out score it in both graphics and CPU.  MORE

But Jewell queries the price:

The first Nexus 7 was $199, why the hell is this one $229? I thought that products get cheaper.

...

If Google think people are going to buy the new Nexus 7 now that the price [is] $229...they are joking.  MORE

Meanwhile, Cameron Summerson has an unboxing to show off:

One lucky soul was able to get his hands on a retail version of the new N7 and has provided us with essentially every angle, pose, nook, and cranny.

...

This go, Google decided to include a 5MP rear camera. ... You'll also find the speakers on either side...on the back of the unit. ...the back feels very similar to the Nexus 10...which is a sort of rubbery/tacky texture.

...but you want to see this beauty in action, no? You're in luck, we have a video!  MORE
