What astronauts really do on the Moon

For me, nothing quite captures the spirit of the Apollo Program more than, “I like to skip along.”

The astronauts in the video are Harrison Schmitt and Eugene Cernan, modifying lyrics from the famous The Fountain in the Park song by changing “park” to “moon.” Of course, even though Cernan took no issue with that change, he couldn’t have Schmitt singing “December” instead of “May,” even though it actually was December.

Many think that the Apollo 17 Moon mission -- the final mission of the Apollo Program -- was special because it resulted in the largest sample of lunar materials taken back to Earth, or because it marked the last manned moon landing.

Not so. If you ask me, singing and dancing on the Moon is what made the Apollo 17 mission special.
