Apple iDevice owners, stand up and be counted! It's time to regain control of the technology that you paid for, legally breaking free from Steve Jobs' control-freakery. Your patience has been rewarded: after waiting weeks for pod2g's shiny new SHAtter jailbreak, you've now only a few days to go. On Sunday, you'll be able to jailbreak your A4-based iOS 4.1 devices -- your iPhone 4, iPad, and iPod Touch 4G (perhaps even your Apple TV 2G). In IT Blogwatch, bloggers are so close, they can taste it.

Your humble blogwatcher curated these bloggy bits for your entertainment. Not to mention OM NOM NOM...

Taimur Asad a-said:

[The] SHAtter based GreenPois0n jailbreak for A4 iOS based devices is finally ... ready to release ... on 10th October 2010 at 10:10:10AM GMT. ... [It's] based on a low-level bootrom exploit which will pwn all supported current iOS devices for life. Apple wont be able to patch it.
...
[It's] only for the fourth-gen A4 devices like iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G, and iPad ... [not] iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G [or] iPod touch 3G. ... Apple TV 2G might also be supported.

Lawrence Latif likes the latest list:

The latest attack on Steve Jobs' church of the technologically naive will begin on Sunday. ... The jailbreak is a bootloader exploit ... this time Jobs' Mob cannot just release a software update to patch things up ... hardware revisions will be required.
...
Jailbreaking allows Iphone users to install applications from alternative application stores. Apple ... thinks that its technologically challenged users don't know what's best for them and their devices. ... It has taken a little longer than expected ... to circumvent Steve Jobs' artificial roadblocks ... but the wait is almost over.

Chronic-Dev team member Joshua Hill confirms the good news:

Things have progressed to the point where we don't expect anymore roadblocks. ETA for greenpois0n is ... 10/10/10 at 10:10:10AM GMT.
...
I guess sunday will be a funday after all :-P

And his partner in thought-crime, pod2g, adds:

Binary dates for the world ! 101010101010 !!!

Imran "Jeff" Jafri learned something today:

I never knew the Chronic-Dev team is into numerology as well.

But seriously, Tim Barribeau has some very, very good advice:

Give it a couple of hours before you try, in order to let some cannon fodder check for mammoth problems that may arise.
M0RE

Alexander Vaughn has this additional tidbit:

Also, be aware that they will be releasing multiple tools, some of which will help you update to 4.1 without losing the possibility of unlocking your baseband for other carriers.
M0RE

Hans and co. are so glad the wait is (almost) over:

Now that the greenpois0n release date is announced, those that were accusing greenpois0n of being fake ... and insulting the makers of greenpois0n can keep quiet. I hope those that said negative comments will apologize and thank Chronic Dev Team.
...
You have to realize that what they did is not your typical jailbreak, and it’s a very big thing.
